About Digital X-Rays
An innovative dental health facility, MINT dentistry in Addison, TX believes in the importance of utilizing advanced techniques and technology for a comprehensive diagnosis. This is why MINT dentistry uses digital x-rays, also known as digital radiographs, during annual exams to obtain a clear, concise view of your mouth. Digital x-rays allow our team of board-certified dental professionals to diagnose problems that are invisible to the naked eye so they can fully understand the health of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. A lot of dental and oral problems can be discovered with digital x-rays, such as tooth decay, cavities, cysts, abscesses, bone loss, and tooth impaction. When a problem is found early, you will likely have more treatment options that are less invasive and more effective. During your dental exam at MINT dentistry, digital x-rays help our team to more accurately diagnose and treat oral health issues.
"Best dental experience I’ve ever had. I haven’t been to the dentist since I was like 10, I’m 28 now. So obviously, I needed a serious cleaning. I was nervous about that & anything else they might’ve found. Man, let me just say, that cleaning was a breeze!! They made me more than comfortable! They also gave me a dental plan. Which idk if that’s a normal thing or not, but I really appreciated that so much! I was scared i was gonna be overwhelmed with the costs of everything but the it was mapped out & explained, I didn’t feel even a little overwhelmed. I’m really looking forward to going back & getting my dental health on track. Thank you MINT Dentistry from the bottom of my heart!"- C.M. / Google / Apr 29, 2023

"I can honestly say this was an excellent experience. I was greeted by Kasha she's the (RDA) and she did my extras. Kasha also introduced Teanna a (Intern) shadowing her today. From there I was taking to my examining room where my additional x-rays were taken. I was then met by Dr. Tran who had a GREAT bedside manner and his expertise with dental care was PHENOMENAL. After Dr. Tran broke down what I'd be needing done to restore my bite, and bone density health Jake walked in. Jakes the (Office Manager) not Jake from State Farm guys lol. He was just as hospitable as everyone else. Lastly was this very vibrant gentleman that came In introduced himself as well to me also. His name was Isai the (Hygienist). Isai's disposition was Amazing. He was bubbly, polite, made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire hygienic exam and cleaning. I also wanna include Marisol (Front Desk Assistant) even though I have only spoke with her over the phone once she is also very friendly. I do have a breakdown of work that I need to do that will help reconstruct my teeth and the bone density with my gums. I'm thankful that I actually found Mint Dentistry. I will definitely recommend."- J.S. / Google / Mar 27, 2023

In most cases, digital x-rays will be taken during your dental exam as a preventive measure. You may also need digital x-rays taken if you are experiencing pain or dental issues of any kind to help our team properly diagnose and treat your problem. Digital x-rays use less radiation than traditional x-rays, but MINT dentistry still prefers to minimize the amount of exposure that is delivered to every patient. While they are typically safe for any patient, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should inform a member of the MINT dentistry team at the beginning of their appointment so that extra precautions can be taken.
What to Expect
When it's time for your appointment, you will settle into a comfortable exam chair. After choosing whether to listen to your favorite jams on our Beats headphones or to watch a show on a flat-screen television, our team will begin your x-rays. Typically performed at the beginning of your dental visit, digital x-rays usually take about 5 – 10 minutes to complete. In most situations, your x-rays will include views of your teeth and gums. After the images are taken, they will be uploaded immediately, so your board-certified MINT dental professional can see the x-rays during your appointment. If there are any abnormalities, your MINT dentist will explain the area of concern and discuss your treatment options.
Your digital x-rays will typically be taken twice a year at your dental exam. During some visits, a whole mouth series may be taken to get a comprehensive view of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Your digital x-rays will be kept in your file at MINT dentistry, so our dental professionals can watch for changes over time and chart any areas of concern. There is not any specific aftercare needed following x-rays except whatever dental instructions are given to you by the MINT dentistry team. Follow-up appointments may be needed if treatment is recommended. MINT dentistry always encourages daily home care as well as attending your twice-yearly cleanings and dental exams to keep your smile healthy and beautiful.

Typically, a dental insurance plan wll cover the cost of digital x-rays as part of a routine dental exam.
